Let It Go, Babe: Natural Constipation Relief Rooted in Plants, TCM & Detox Wisdom
Because if you’re not pooping, your body is holding on—emotionally and physically
The Constipation Conversation We’re Not Having
Constipation is incredibly common—especially for women. Millions of people are moving through life bloated, sluggish, and backed up without realizing it’s affecting everything from mood and hormones to skin, sleep, and fertility.
From a TCM perspective, constipation is often a combination of Liver Qi stagnation, Spleen Qi deficiency, and Dryness in the Intestines—made worse by chronic stress, irregular eating, cold/raw foods, and… you guessed it: unreleased emotional tension.
Run Chang Wan: The Herbal Formula That Gets Things Moving
One of my favorite herbal blends for constipation is Run Chang Wan (潤腸丸)—which translates to “Moisten the Intestines Pill.”
Ingredients & Benefits:
Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis): Nourishes Blood, gently moves the bowels
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia): Cools Heat, nourishes Yin and fluids
Huo Ma Ren (Hemp Seed): Moistens dryness, lubricates the intestines
Tao Ren (Peach Kernel): Breaks up blood stasis, promotes movement
Zhi Ke (Bitter Orange): Regulates Qi and helps with abdominal fullness
This formula isn’t a harsh laxative—it’s a gentle, intelligent formula that restores moisture to the gut, moves Qi, and gets your system back in flow. It’s especially helpful for those with dry stools, postpartum constipation, or stress-induced stagnation.
Modern research shows that herbs like Huo Ma Ren and Tao Ren support intestinal motility and soothe inflammation in the gut lining, without the dependency or harsh side effects of pharmaceutical laxatives.
Western Solutions: Why They Miss the Mark
Most conventional treatments for constipation rely on fiber supplements, stimulant laxatives, or osmotic agents like polyethylene glycol (Miralax). These can offer short-term relief but often come with:
Dehydration
Electrolyte imbalance
Dependency
Gut microbiome disruption
They treat the symptom—not the root.
TCM and herbal support, by contrast, works with your body’s natural rhythm, not against it. We focus on restoring flow, clearing heat or cold, moistening dryness, and calming the nervous system so your bowels remember what they’re meant to do.
The Daily Ritual: Green Smoothie That Tames the Tummy
A great way to support bowel health daily is with a TCM-friendly green smoothie that’s not cold or overly raw. Here’s one of my favorites:
Warming Green Smoothie Recipe (room temp)
1 handful spinach
½ avocado
½ pear or green apple
1 Tbsp soaked chia or flaxseed
1 thumb fresh ginger
1 scoop plant-based protein
1 tsp cinnamon or cardamom
½ tsp maca (optional for hormonal support)
Warm or room temp water or nut milk to blend
Tip: Let the smoothie come to room temperature to avoid weakening your Spleen Qi (digestion). Drink slowly and mindfully.
Bowel Movement Basics: Let’s Talk Poop
You should be having 2–3 complete bowel movements per day. Yes, daily. And yes, multiple. If you’re eating 2–3 meals a day, that’s how often your body should be eliminating.
What goes in must come out. If not, you’re reabsorbing toxins, disrupting your hormones, and slowing your metabolism.
Regular elimination = radiant skin, clear mind, lighter body, stronger immunity, and balanced mood.
e’s another layer we must address if we’re talking root cause: glyphosate.
Wait… What is Glyphosate?
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the weed killer Roundup, one of the most widely used herbicides in the world. It’s sprayed on everything from wheat and oats to corn and soy—and it’s in a LOT of processed food. Studies have found glyphosate residues in cereal, crackers, granola bars, even breast milk.
Why does that matter?
Glyphosate is a known endocrine disruptor and gut microbiome destroyer. It damages the intestinal lining, weakens digestion, and leads to chronic inflammation—all of which slow or block bowel movements. It’s also been linked to fertility issues, mood disorders, and autoimmune conditions.
Translation? You can be eating healthy and still be clogged up if glyphosate is stuck in your system.
The Solution: Cleanse + Nourish
Your body knows how to detox—but only if it’s given the right tools. That’s why I always recommend a targeted cleanse program to release glyphosate, reset digestion, and re-establish regular bowel movements.
Tap here to begin a cellular cleanse program and say goodbye to constipation for good. But this isn’t a starvation cleanse or a juice fast. It’s a plant-based, herbal-supported, TCM-aligned approach to restoring balance, eliminating toxins, and giving your gut a reset it desperately needs.
Constipation Is Not “Normal”—It’s a Signal
Your body isn’t misbehaving. It’s speaking. Constipation is often a sign that it’s holding on—to toxins, to emotions, to stress, to fear.
Let this be your invitation to release, to return to flow, and to rebuild your relationship with your gut—gently, naturally, and wisely.
Because when you let go of what’s stuck, you make room for what’s meant to come through.
